This course enables currently practicing engineers and scientists qualifications in response to rapid changes in medical technology. It is also intended to permit recent graduates, usually from first qualification with studies in biomedical engineering to improve their prospects in this area of sustained employment growth.

A candidate of sufficient merit may be granted credit (12points) for work completed and be permitted to transfer to the Master of Biomedical Engineering. In certain circumstances, students may be permitted to exit the postgraduate graduates certificate provided students somplete all course requirements.
On completion of the certificate, a candidate of sufficient merit may be permitted to transfer candidature to the Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Engineering.

Entry requirement

Four-year bachelors degree or postgraduate diploma level qualification with a credit level qualification with a credit level average in disciplines that provide suitable basis for the course ed. Biomedical, electrical, electronic or computer systems engineering or biomedical science
Three-year bachelors degree or equivalent in a relevant or closely related discipline, eg. Electrical, electronic, computer systems or communications engineering.
Three-year bachelors degree or equivalent qualification, normally in an engineering, science or life science field.
